CHILDREN LEARN WHAT THEY LIVE

If a child lives with criticism,
He learns to condemn.

If a child lives with hostility,
He learns to fight.

If a child lives with ridicule,
He learns to be shy.

If a child lives with shame,
He learns to feel guilty

If a child lives with tolerance,
He learns to be patient.

If a child lives with encouragement,
He learns confidence.

If a child lives with praise,
He learns to appreciate.

If a child lives with fairness,
He learns justice.

Last Sunday of every month, Unity Youth Ministry presents

With Star Lady

A spiritual warrior, teacher, artist, and beacon.

Sacred Service Teacher, Brandi “Star Lady” Chanthathep - draws upon the wisdom of her Native American roots to
share and inspire the youth of Unity.

Star Lady’s spiritual foundation was passed down to her through her Elders of the Sioux, Cherokee, and Navajo Nations.

“First and foremost, in my heart is the deep love and reverence for God.
I have a vision to share my gifts with the youth of Maui; to enable them to be strong and peaceful spiritual warriors.”

The next ‘Little feather Lodge’ class is JULY 27, 9:45 am

Creative Community Outreach Project

Aloha Kids and Parents of Unity!

We are embarking on a Unity Youth Ministry project that your children can work on at home in their spare time.  I will
be producing a book that includes the writings and art of Unity’s Youth Ministry children and teachers.  I have
encouraged your children to get a journal to compile their writings in.  Some writing examples are:

POETRY * STORIES * SONGS * DRAWINGS * ART * PRAYERS * DOODLES

Have them bring in their work as it is created, and will compile it in a folder for review and editing in November.  I plan
to have the book completed by Dec. 1, and ready for sale and distribution.  So, between now and Oct. 31, 2008,
encourage your children to express themselves; inspire them to “put it on paper”.  Toddlers can create exciting scribble
or doodle pictures that I can overlay a poem from one of our older kids.  Idea:  if they randomly say something that is
poetic, profound, or interesting, write it down for them, and then I can couple the writing with a picture of theirs or
photo, ECT.

Kids, keep in mind when you are creating that other children, parents, and teachers will be looking at your work.  Think
of themes that might inspire, comfort, or uplift your readers, as well as themes about God that you’ve learned at Unity.

The purpose of this book is:
1.        To reach out to the world around us, and share our spirituality through creativity.
2.        To connect with other kids who may not have a church home.
3.        To practice our performance skills by giving readings and performances at Church and within the community.
4.        To work together w/peers to manifest an idea into reality.

Thank you for your cooperation, and I welcome your ideas, and suggestions.

Sincerely,
Karyne Contreras
